Dry Fix Trandsfers
- Ensure area of application is clean and free of polish.
- Remove protecting white paper from transfer.
- Position transfer using printing on blue backing paper.
- Rub down hard on blue backing paper to eliminate all air bubbles.
- A good idea at this stage is to use a hair dryer to reactivate the adhesive.
- Do this for just long enough to warm the transfer.
- Rub down hard again and then peel off the blue paper from one end.
- If transfer lifts, lay down blue paper again and rub over.
- Varnish with at least two coats of clear varnish.
Spirit Fix Transfers
- Split the transfer away from the hard backing.
- Put 100% methylated spirit into a container.
- Use either a piece of cloth or cotton wool dipped in this solution and wipe the area you are going to affix the transfer to.
- Place the transfer in the solution for about five minutes and then place the transfer on the prepared area.
- Smooth out as required.
- Leave the transfer to dry out overnight.
- Use ordinary warm water on cloth or cotton wool and gently dab the surface of the transfer liberally.
- When completely saturated, gently lift off the surface paper. That should leave a brilliant transfer behind.
- Leave for a short time for the water to dry out and then paint with at least two coats of clear varnish.
