Run to Duxford (IWM)
For the last three years, groups of Royal Enfield riders and enthusiasts have ridden to the Imperial War Museum, Duxford (CB22 4QR), on Remembrance Sunday. Some have ridden directly to Duxford, while others have met first at the ‘Silver Ball’, Reed (SG8 8BD), for the usual breakfast/refreshment, before riding to Duxford by a cross country route. Arrival planned, in each case, before the two minutes silence at 11.00.
Entrance on this day is free (normally £16.00, without concessions, on a non-flying day) and further details are available at Duxford. The opening hours are 10.00 – 16.00.
The plan, as last year, is to meet at the “Silver Ball” at 9.00 for breakfast and then leave for Duxford at 10.00, to arrive at 10.30. However, as a result of the numbers attending in previous years, we may need to consider having a staggered departure in smaller groups, preferably of bikes and riders travelling at similar speeds. A suggested route is available, which you use at your own risk (watch out for Muntjac).
Suggested meeting point at Duxford is the grassed area of the airfield on the right after leaving the entrance and visitor centre.
Further details are available, nearer the day, from the REOC web site or John Dyke (9505), (email : John_L.Dyke@ntlword.com ; tel. : 01480 466 325; mob. : 07881 411 717).
