Contact the Machine Dating Officer.
The application to claim the original registration number for your machine requires the following:
Two completed forms (1) V765 (2) V55/5 (obtainable at your local V.R.O.) are required and the appropriate documents sent with them.
Also required are pencil rubbings of the frame and engine numbers (please include engine prefix letters), a photograph of the machine, and an 11" x 7" 54 pence S.A.E.
If no evidence can be found, as a last resort, try the main library of the county to which the registration number belongs.
Refer to the archives section as sometimes it can provide a document showing the frame/engine number allocated to the registration number. Request them to sign and stamp the document to prove authenticity and this can then be used as supporting evidence.
If nothing can be found, then unfortunately the number is lost, but an age-related number could be issued. In this case send a photo of the machine along with a pencil rubbing of the frame/engine number (please include engine prefix letters) a completed V55/5 and V627/1 to the machine dating officer at the address below with a covering letter and an 11" x 7" 54 pence S.A.E.
Before applying for an age-related or claiming a 'lost' registration number, please note that the scheme is only for vehicles which are complete and can be inspected as such when necessary.
The fee for the registration service for non-members is £12. Members please quote your membership number. Cheques should be made payable to the Royal Enfield Owners Club.
Should inspection of a machine be necessary, expenses will be charged accordingly to both members and non-members alike.
